This social enterprise was originally created in the Durham and Derwentside area to facilitate employment and training opportunity for disadvantaged people in particular those with mental health problems.
Busy Bodies is now expanding into the Sunderland area with a contract from Sunderland Housing Group to service their vulnerable client base (starts early 2006).
This is a huge achievement as the contract was put up for tender and the enterprise was successful against stiff competition.
Busy Bodies (Derwentside) now has a team of workers who are split between servicing and maintaining the residential properties of Mental Health Care Charity and also providing a cost effective and safe service to members of the general public who can book to have various kinds of property maintenance, painting and decorating or gardening services performed.
The Team of handymen are led by a qualified professional, who has run his own business building private houses in the past.
All of our team are CRB checked by the police so the public can feel safe and secure whilst they work on their premises.
We provide a discount for anyone who can prove they are from a disadvantaged group, such as over 60's, disabled or receiving various other benefits.
We also provide cost effective services for local community and church groups.
