Welcome to MHC Social Enterprises Ltd, we are the social enterprise arm of the registered charity Mental Health Care.
WHAT IS SOCIAL ENTERPRISE?
Social enterprise development is one of the key elements of the social inclusion policy produced by the government. Social enterprises are operated on the same basis as a normal commercial business.
The objective is to make a profit. However, the main difference between a commercial company and a social enterprise is that the latter are formed to not only make profit but fulfill social obligations such as generating employment and training for disadvantaged groups, whilst providing a cost effective, professional service to both vulnerable members of the community and the general public.
OUR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES.
MHC Social Enterprises Ltd currently operates three enterprises very successfully and has a number of other projects in the development stage. As these new enterprises become live they will be added to this website.
The Busy Bodies are a team of multi skilled tradesmen who specialise in all aspects of home maintenance and gardening works. They have been operational since 2004 and carryout work across the North East of England, mainly in the Durham and Tyne and Wear areas.
Our B2G Diner is located in Longbenton Newcastle. This is a community café providing cheap, healthy meals to members of the local community. Baps 2 Go also provides a sandwich delivery and private/corporate buffet service around the area.
Ridge House is a property in South Shields that has been converted into student accommodation. We provide accommodation for up to 27 mature marine students. This enterprise was set up to help relieve the pressure on South Tyneside College who are unable to accommodate the quantity of students attending their college.
